API6D: Raising the Bar in Valve Standards
The 25th edition of the API6D standard is a comprehensive guideline that defines the design, manufacturing, and testing processes for many of the valves we stock and supply. Effective since November 2022, this latest edition, along with its subsequent addenda, has introduced significant changes to how we manage these products across our operations.
Key updates place greater emphasis on meeting end-user requirements, with enhanced specifications, testing protocols, and production methods. The standard also raises qualification requirements for essential personnel, ensuring a higher level of expertise across the industry. Additionally, quality control has become more rigorous, with increased inspection and non-destructive testing requirements to meet these elevated standards. While these changes bring new challenges, they ultimately lead to better products and, in turn, improved service for our customers.
Pressure Boundary Bolting
One of the big impacts of the 25th Edition are the stringent new requirements for pressure boundary bolting. We keep big stocks of bolts for our manufacturer’s valves, both as made, and with a wide variety of specialist coatings, such as Zinc Plated, Galvanised, and or PTFE coated. Additionally, we can follow the requirements applicable to API standards 20E, and 20F.
