Saturday 29th September was the last round for the 2018 ST-XR Challenge and took place at Oulton Park.
Despite believing that he wouldn’t be as strong as in the previous rounds, Adam still managed to qualify 6th overall and 5th in class. Despite suffering a few problems with the brakes on the car he even achieved a personal best.
A good start in race 1 saw Adam in P4 overall and 3rd in class but while trying to move for 3rd overall, he lost some momentum which dropped him a few seconds and back into the range of P5 and P6. Following a 3-way battle for most of the race Adam finished P5 overall and P4 in class.
Hoping to make some gains in race 2, Adam maintained his position at the start but when heading into the second chicane the back of the Fiesta stepped out slightly giving some over steer, which quickly turned into a ‘tank slapper’. Despite managing to save it and gather it all back up, the front wheels ended up on the wet grass from which there was no return and resulted in Adam heading towards the barrier and a head on hit with the wall which put him out of the race.
Thankfully there were no injuries and the 2018 season has given Adam many positives to take away with some significant gains in lap time and some podiums throughout the season.
We are sure that after some winter tinkering with the car we will see Adam return next year bigger and better.
